Association of Physical Activity and Risk of Hepatobiliary Cancers: A Multinational Cohort Study

Liver cancer was the fourth leading cause of cancer death in 2015 [1]. Liver cancer is responsible for around 47,000 deaths per year in the European Union [2]. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer derived from hepatocytes and it accounts for 85-90% of all primary liver cancers worldwide. It is the fifth most common cancer in men and the seventh most common cancer in women [1]. The distribution of HCC varies greatly according to geographic location and it is more common in low- and middle-income countries than in developed countries.
