Call for Nominations: Early Academic Career Award on Schizophrenia Research  Application Deadline Extended: November 17, 2014 $45,000 stipend support to the research of a junior faculty member with an interest in schizophrenia research The American Psychiatric Foundation is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the APF Early Academic Career Award on Schizophrenia Research to help support the research of a junior faculty member with an interest in schizophrenia research. Awards will be made to three candidates who have completed a psychiatry residency, at least one year of a psychiatry research fellowship, and are seeking to make a commitment to a research career with the end goal of successfully transitioning to that of an independent investigator. The Award, through an unrestricted grant from Genentech, Inc., is intended to assist in this key transition period by providing one year of funding of $45,000. Salary support provided by this award will allow junior faculty in departments of psychiatry at U.S. and Canadian academic institutions to devote more time to research. The protection of at least 40% time for research should be assured by the department chair.
