In-Depth Study of Long-Term Impacts among People Injured on 9/11

Previous research has shown that those who sustained an injury in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC) towers on September 11, 2001 (9/11) have an increased risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and new onset heart disease. We conducted a two phase in-depth study of persons injured on 9/11 who are enrollees in the WTC Health Registry (WTCHR). The goal of this study was to gain a better understanding of the long-term mental and physical health effects and to assess the social and economic impact of being injured on 9/11.
