Supplementary postoperative parenteral nutrition for head and neck cancer patients – A randomised trial
Rationale: Head and neck cancer patients with a nasogastric tube struggle to meet their full energy and protein requirements during the first postoperative days. The aim was to examine if 100% coverage of estimated energy and protein requirements from the first postoperative day would decrease the incidence of postoperative complications without adverse effects for the patient.
