Serum level of IL-8 is associated with reversion of QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube Tests

Interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) showed advantages for diagnosing Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) infection, as compared to tuberculin skin test (TST), with improved specificity in BCG vaccinated individuals and convenience without repeat visits [1]. Two commercial IGRAs, QuantiFERONTB Gold In-Tube (QFT, Qiagen, USA) and T-SPOT.TB (Oxford Immunotec, Oxon, UK), have been recommended to replace TST in some high-income countries, such as United States [2]. However, frequent QFT conversion and reversion in serial tests has been observed in several studies [3-6].
