Chest wall resection and reconstruction for tumors: analysis of oncological and functional outcome.

Conclusions: free surgical margins are the main oncological prognostic factor in these patients. In patients who underwent resection of two or more ribs in a critical area, reconstruction of the bony thorax can significantly reduce the post-operative respiratory complication rate. This is a nation ‐wide multicenter 10‐year cross‐sectional study in China. This paper tried to objectively examine the symptoms and physical signs in lung cancer patients, and determine whether lung cancer symptoms were independently associated with diagnosis. We found that the symptoms and physical signs were  associated with stage and pathologic diagnosis of NSCLC. AbstractBackgroundMost lung cancer patients are diagnosed after the onset of symptoms. However, whether the symptoms of lung cancer were independently associated with the diagnosis of lung cancer is unknown, especially in the Chinese population...

In conclusion, we identified a novel Bcl-2 inhibitor by QSAR screening, which exerted significant cytotoxic activity in breast cancer cells through inducing mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. Introduction Apoptosis is a process of cellular suicide through which unwanted or unhealthy cells are eliminated during organism development or cellular stress (Reed, 2002; Fernald and Kurokawa, 2013). Deregulated apoptosis is a characteristic of cancers (Doi et al., 2012; Roizen, 2012). The B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) family is composed of pro- and anti-apoptotic proteins, plays pivotal role in the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosi...

Conclusion The expression of the components of the PTN-MK-RPTPβ/ζ axis in immune cells and in inflammatory diseases suggests important roles for this axis in inflammation. Pleiotrophin has been recently identified as a limiting factor of metainflammation, a chronic pathological state that contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. Pleiotrophin also seems to potentiate acute neuroinflammation independently of the inflammatory stimulus while MK seems to play different -even opposite- roles in acute neuroinflammation depending on the stimulus. Which are the functions of MK and PTN in chronic neuroinfla...

This study aimed to determine the different delays in the management of lung cancers through a retrospective descriptive and analytical study on 131 hospitalized cases in service between April 2014 and January 2017. Management delays were estimated from the date of the first symptom described by the patient (D1s), the first contact with health care provider (1Cs), then hospitalization (DH) and finally to the histological confirmation of the diagnosis (C Hist) before the start of treatment (D ttt).Among the patients included in our work, 90.8% were men, 87.8% were chronic smokers. The mean age was 61 years; chest pain was t...

Background and objective Through the comparative analysis of the acute and chronic pain postoperative between the single port and triple port video-assisted thoracic surgery to seek the better method which can reduce the incidence of acute and chronic pain in patients with lung cancer. Methods Data of 232 patients who underwent single port -VATS (n=131) or triple port VATS (n=101) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) on January 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017 in our hospital were analyzed. The clinical and operative data were assessed, numeric rating scale (NRS) was used to evaluate the mean pain score on the 1th, 2th, 3th, 7th...

Conclusion: Our cases suggest that thermal RFA can be safely used to treat patients suffering from intercostal neuralgia. This unique treatment has significant implications for chronic pain physicians and warrants additional studies to elucidate its effectiveness, safety profile, and scope of use. CONCLUSION: By regular monitoring of the intensity of the pain we made good management in controlling malignant pain, which is an important data in the assessment of nutritional status. The fact is that the poor controlled pain is present in 24% of patients and has been the reason for the reduced food intake.
