Interferon-gamma release assay for tuberculosis screening of solid-organ transplant recipients is cost-effective

Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious and important infectious disease with higher mortality and morbidity for transplantation.1-6 Most TB is considered to cause by reactivation of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) among solid-organ transplant recipients.2,3 For diagnosing LTBI, Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs); QuantiFERON ®-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT) [QIAGEN, Gaithersburg, USA, Australia] and T-SPOT®.TB (T-SPOT) [Oxford Immunotec, Oxford, UK], are available as more accurate methods than the tuberculin skin test (TST).
