A new side effect of synthetic cannabinoid use by the bucket (waterpipe) method: acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) - Yamanoglu A, Cakmak S, Celebi Yamanoglu NG, Sogut O.

The use and content of synthetic canibinden (SCs) has been rapidly increased in the last decades. The complex content of these substances bring along a wide spectrum of side effects. In addition to the expected neuropsychological side effects of pleasure-i...

The morphology and size of poly(DOPA)-FONPs are dependent on the synthesis conditions, such as solvent and alkali concentration. Under the optimized condition, the prepared poly(DOPA)-FONPs possess not only uniform size and morph...

BakarAbstractTapered optical fiber coated with pyrrole/poly(vinyl alcohol)-glucose oxidase (Py/PVA-GOx) for glucose biosensing was successfully fabricated by radiation immobilization of GOx onto polymeric surfaces. Polymerization of pyrrole and PVA crosslinking was carried out by means of gamma irradiation. The nature of enzyme immobilization was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectro...

In this study, three new classes of compounds were modified from Alda-1 to improve their water-solubility and then drug-like properties. The results showed that all compounds had increased water solubility and two classes of compounds exhibited good activation activity. Among them, compound I-6 showed the best activity.

Subsequent melamine treatment produced nitrogen-functionalized carbon (NPC), which was used as a support to anchor Pd nanoparticles (Pd/NPC) of sizes 2-4 nm using the chemical reduction method. Various analytical techniques were used to characterize the textural properties, structure, and chemical nature of the catalyst. Pd/NPC was then employed as a catalyst for the transfer hydrogenation of biomass-derived fu...

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (CBS Local) – A disturbing new study declares that a growing number of young Americans are drinking themselves to death. The findings point to a skyrocketing increase in cirrhosis and liver cancer deaths over the last decade. According to the report published in the journal BMJ, deaths due to cirrhosis increased by 65 percent from 2009 to 2016. Deaths from liver cancer doubled (from more than 5,100 to nearly 11,100) during the same time period. Americans between 25-34 were found to be the largest group affected. Cirrhosis is a disease commonly caused by excessive drinking or ...
