Sustained remission of γδ T-cell lymphoma by graft-versus-lymphoma effect which relapsed early after cord blood transplantation
A 53-year-old male suffering from fever, multiple skin nodules and gastric ulcer had been diagnosed as a rare and aggressive subtype of malignant lymphoma with a γδ T-cell phenotype. Cord blood transplantation was performed after achievement of a certain disease control by some courses of chemotherapy. Unfortunately lymphoma relapsed as early as two months after transplantation; however, it has been successfully and continuously controlled only by cessatio n of immunosuppressant. To our knowledge, this is the first report describing the favorable outcome of graft-versus-lymphoma effect for γδ T-cell lymphoma after cord blood transplantation.
