Impact of preoperative Body Mass Index on postoperative outcome and long-term survival in 1,675 patients undergoing pancreatic resections for underlying malignancy
Objectives With all progress in surgical techniques and interdisciplinary management pancreatic resections may nowadays be performed safely. However, individual prognostic markers may still be associated with an increased risk for postoperative morbidity and mortality. The aim of our study was to analyze the impact of Body Mass Index (BMI) in patients undergoing pancreatic resections for underlying malignancy with regard to postoperative outcome and overall survival.
