Sclerosed Hemangioma of the Liver in a 17-Year-Old

A 17-year-old girl with no medical history presented with vague epigastric pain. Physical and laboratory evaluation were normal. Abdominal ultrasound showed an exophytic hypoechoic mass in the left hepatic lobe, with slow blood flow. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an 8  × 4-cm mass, which was homogeneous and hypointense on T1- (Figure A) and T2-weighted images (Figure B). A solitary fibrous tumor (hemangiopericytoma), a leiomyoma, or an inflammatory pseudotumor (solitary necrotic nodule) of the liver were suspected.
