Selenium in infant formula milk.
Selenium in infant formula milk. Asia Pac J Clin Nutr. 2018;27(2):284-292 Authors: He MJ, Zhang SQ, Mu W, Huang ZW Abstract Formula-based animal milk is an alternative source of infant nutrition in many cases when breastfeeding is unacceptable or inaccessible; however, these replacements often have low selenium levels. The composition of infant formula milk should be as close as possible to that of human breast milk, both in content and chemical speciation. Selenium is an essential trace element for infants. Generally, human breast milk is the ideal food to ensure adequate infant Se intake. However, to date, sodium selenite or sodium selenate has been used as selenium supplementation in infant formula milk in most countries. This inorganic Se, which is not a natural component of food, may not be the optimal speciation for Se supplementation in infant formula milk. Advances in speciation in foods, especially in animal milk, suggest that future proposals for selenium speciation in human breast milk can lead to discussions regarding the most favorable methods of selenium supplementation in infant formula milk. Authors: Suh DH, Kim M, Lee KH, Eom KY, Kjeldsen MK, Mirza MR, Kim JW Abstract In 2017, 10 topics were selected as major clinical research advances in gynecologic oncology. For cervical cancer, efficacy and safety analysis results of a 9-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine and long-term impact of reduced dose of quadrivalent vaccine were updated. Brief introduction of KEYNOTE trials of pembrolizumab, a monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction between programmed death (PD)-1 and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, followed. Tailored surveillance programs for gynecologic cancer related with Lynch syndrome and ...
AbstractPurpose of reviewObesity contributes to an estimated forty-percent, or 630,000 cases, of malignant neoplasms diagnosed in the United States, and higher body mass index (BMI) has been associated with at least seventeen types of solid tumors, including 9% of all breast cancer cases. In this review, we discuss the impact of obesity and consequences of obesity, including the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus, on breast cancer risk and recurrence.Recent findingsRecent work has identified multiple molecular mechanisms that may underlie the association between obesity and breast cancer. In particular, insuli...
