A comprehensive toolkit for imaging children who may have been abused: new guidance from the Royal College of Radiologists and the Society and College of Radiographers

The diagnosis of child abuse is challenging and impactful. Unfortunately, child abuse remains all too common. It is a scourge of society. The radiographic and neuroimaging findings of child abuse are well described; however, the imaging diagnosis of child abuse is increasingly contentious due to an unfortunate and swelling small community of physicians who deny its very existence. We need be even more meticulous and more certain in the face of these challenges. Child abuse is common and child abuse is real —there is no doubt.
