[Immunisation schedule of the Spanish Association of Paediatrics: 2018 recommendations]. An Pediatr (Barc). 2018 Jan;88(1):53.e1-53.e9 Authors: Moreno-Pérez D, Álvarez García FJ, Álvarez Aldeán J, Cilleruelo Ortega MJ, Garcés Sánchez M, García Sánchez N, Hernández Merino Á, Méndez Hernández M, Merino Moína M, Montesdeoca Melián A, Ruiz-Contreras J, en representación del Comité Asesor de Vacunas de la Asociación Española de Pediatría (CAV-AEP) Abstract The Advisory Committee on Vaccines of the Spanish Association of Paediatrics annually publishes the immunisation schedule considered optimal for children resident in Spain, according to available evidence on current vaccines. Regarding funded immunisations, 2+1 strategy (2, 4, 11-12 months) with hexavalent (DTPa-IPV-Hib-HB) and 13-valent pneumococcal vaccines are recommended. Administration of the 6-year booster dose with DTPa is recommended, and a poliomyelitis dose for children who had received the 2+1 scheme, as well as Tdap vaccine for adolescents and pregnant women in every pregnancy between 27 and 32 weeks' gestation. The two-dose scheme should be used for MMR (12 months and 2-4 years) and varicella (15 months and 2-4 years). MMRV vaccine could be applied as the second dose if available. Coverage of human papillomavirus vaccination in girls aged 12 with a two dose...

Conclusions: BI affects 1 in 10 mothers, and although BI and PPD are strongly associated at 6-8 and 12-15 months after delivery, BI at 6-8 months is the main predictor of later BI. Based on the study findings, PPD screening in combination with BI assessment is highly recommended during the first year of child's life. PMID: 31438746 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The objectives of this retrospective study were to identify the prevalence and distribution of M. ovis, and identify associated demographic and management risk factors, and reproductive and production outcomes associated with infection on domestic sheep (Ovis aries) operations in the United States. As part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services’ National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) Sheep 2001 and 2011 studies, blood was collected and sera banked from 21,369 ewes in 2001 and 13,128 ewes in 2011. Participating premises were located ...

The major disease burden of tuberculosis lies in developing countries. Lack of an effective vaccine for adults is one of the major hurdles for controlling this deadly disease. In the present study, 6 kDa early secretory antigenic target (ESAT-6) of M. tuberculosis was inducibly expressed in chloroplasts of Nicotiana tabacu...

Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is a clinical form of Leishmaniasis which mainly affects people living below poverty line. There are no available vaccines against VL and chemotherapy still remains the mainstay for treatment. However, the use of the current therapeutic agents are limited due to issues of toxicity, side effects and cost effectiveness. Thus, repositioni...

B. pertussis is the causal agent of whooping cough in humans and purified pertactin (PRN) is used as one of the components in the production of acellular pertussis vaccines. When grown in bioreactors, bacteria adapt to environmental conditions which may include high levels of reactive oxidative species (ROS) that stress cells and can have detrimental effects on...
