Mortality after an acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD): findings from the National COPD Audit Programme

Conclusion: Mortality within 90 days of admission has reduced over time. Risk of post-discharge mortality should be considered during the admission. Inpatient NIV confers particularly high post-discharge mortality.
