Etiological factors of chronic cough in children: Dont ignore obstructive sleep apnea

Conclusions: As compatible with previous research, we recognized asthma and PBB as the most frequent causes of chronic cough. We believe that implementation of a standardized algorithm including investigation of OSA as an etiological factor of chronic cough in children may improve clinical outcomes.Figure-1: Etiologies of patients (n=251)*: Three patients were diagnosed as astma and gastroesophageal reflux

Bulk RNA-sequencing and proteomics showed a clear distinction between phenotypes and...

Authors: Mandlik DS, Mandlik SK Abstract Asthma is the most common, long-lasting inflammatory airway disease that affects more than 10% of the world population. It is characterized by bronchial narrowing, airway hyperresponsiveness, vasodilatation, airway edema and stimulation of sensory nerve endings that lead to recurring events of breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing. It is the main reason for global morbidity and occurs as a result of the weakening of the immune system in response to exposure to allergens or environmental exposure. In asthma condition, it results in the activation of numerous ...

Authors: de Biase S, Pellitteri G, Gigli GL, Valente M Abstract INTRODUCTION: Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder characterized by a pentad of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), cataplexy, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations, and disturbed nocturnal sleep. Treatment of narcolepsy remains challenging and current therapy is strictly symptomatically based. AREAS COVERED: The present manuscript is based on an extensive Internet and PubMed search from 1990 to 2020. It is focused on the clinical and pharmacological properties of pitolisant in the treatment of narcolepsy. EXPERT OPINION: Cur...

Authors: Hwang S, Ren T, Gao B Abstract Obesity and binge drinking often coexist and work synergistically to promote steatohepatitis; however, the underlying mechanisms remain obscure. In this mini-review, we briefly summarize clinical evidence of the synergistical effect of obesity and heavy drinking on steatohepatitis and discuss the underlying mechanisms obtained from the study of several mouse models. High-fat diet (HFD) feeding and binge ethanol synergistically induced steatohepatitis and fibrosis in mice with significant intrahepatic neutrophil infiltration; such HFD-plus-ethanol treatment markedly up-regulat...
