Society of Biological Psychiatry Medical Student Scholars Program Society of Biological Psychiatry 70th Annual Scientific Meeting May 14-16, 2015 (Before APA Meeting) Toronto, Ontario CANADA PURPOSE The training of a new generation of academic psychiatrists is a major objective of the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP). Participation in professional meetings, where new research data are exchanged and contacts are made, can have a critical impact on medical students developing careers as clinician-scientists. In recognition of the importance of academic exchange, the SOBP annually selects Medical Student Scholars for travel awards to attend the Annual Meeting. Each Medical Student Scholar award includes: $2,000 to help defray the travel and living cost to attend the 2015 annual meeting Waived registration to attend the 2015 meeting Waived registration to attend the 2016 and 2017 annual meeting (no financial award) An SOBP member mentor assigned to the Scholar during the meeting Opportunity to present a poster or oral abstract without an SOBP member sponsor Recognition events in honor of travel award recipients Special programming for Medical Student Scholars, including orientation to the meeting, interviewing for residency, research during medical school, meetings with psychiatry residency directors, etc. To receive the award, applicants are expected to attend the entire meeting, be present for the recognition ev...
