Fighting against congenital hypothyroidism – Old soldiers never die

Congenital hypothyroidism (CH), the most common pediatric endocrine disorder, is also a preventable cause of mental retardation. Patients with a delayed diagnosis and treatment, present common symptoms and signs such as developmental delay, short stature, constipation, dry skin and periorbital edema. In addition, children with CH, have a higher risk of obesity due to adipose rebound at an earlier age. Chen et  al.1 recommended that it is necessary to supervise and control weight using appropriate interventions to prevent the occurrence of obesity at a later age.
