Offhand comments can expose underlying racism, UW study finds

(University of Washington) A study of microaggressions -- everyday exchanges that can offend racial and ethnic minorities -- draw upon stereotypes and are linked with racism and prejudice. The University of Washington-led research suggests that whites who are more likely to deliver microaggressions are also more likely to harbor some degree of negative feeling toward blacks, whether they know it or not.
