Metastasis to a spinal meningioma.

CONCLUSION: Tumor to tumor metastasis rarely occurs, and meningioma, owing to its biological character and increased vascularity, is one of the most common recipients of a metastases from other lesions. PMID: 28695049 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionAlthough mesenteric cysts are rarely seen, although most of them are not histopathologically malignant, they can reach large sizes and require extensive surgical operation, and related morbidities can be seen. Therefore, mesenteric cysts should be followed carefully in the postoperative period as well as during the diagnosis and surgical treatment process.

arc D. Basson Schlafen 12 (SLFN12) is an intermediate human Schlafen that induces differentiation in enterocytes, prostate, and breast cancer. We hypothesized that SLFN12 influences lung cancer biology. We investigated survival differences in high versus low SLFN12-expressing tumors in two databases. We then adenovirally overexpressed SLFN12 (AdSLFN12) in HCC827, H23, and H1975 cells to model lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), and in H2170 and HTB-182 cells representing lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). We analyzed proliferation using a colorimetric assay, mRNA expression by RT-qPCR, and protein by Western blot. To further...

This study demonstrates a critical role of IRF4 in the generation of an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer, which is independent of IRF4 expression in PMN-MDSC.

Conclusion: Because the morphology of cancer cells cultured in this 3D culture system is similar to that in living organisms, we called the system a “tissueoid cell culture system.” Coating with collagen IV enables the modification of cell-matrix interactions as well as recapitulation of the in vivo microenvironment.Pathobiology

At the time of diagnosis, only about 20% of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) have resectable disease. PDAC treatment necessitates a multidisciplinary approach, and adjuvant chemotherapy after upfront resection is an established means of preventing recurrence. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAT), originally introduced to downstage tumor size, is nowadays more frequently used for selection of patients with favorable tumor biology and to control potential micrometastases. While NAT is routinely applied in locally advanced (LA) PDAC, there is increasing evidence demonstrating benefits of NAT in borderline resec...

suka Naohiko Seki Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most aggressive types of cancer, and its prognosis is abysmal; only 25% of patients survive one year, and 5% live for five years. MicroRNA (miRNA) signature analysis of PDAC revealed that both strands of pre-miR-30c (miR-30c-5p, guide strand; miR-30c-2-3p, passenger strand) were significantly downregulated, suggesting they function as tumor-suppressors in PDAC cells. Ectopic expression assays demonstrated that these miRNAs attenuated the aggressiveness of PDAC cells, e.g., cell proliferation, migration, and invasiveness. Through a combination of ...

Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women [1]. Low lung cancer survival rates reflect the large proportion of patients diagnosed with metastatic disease, for which the 5-year relative survival rate is 5 %, far lower than a 57 % survival rate in patients with localized stage disease [1]. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for nearly 90 % of lung cancer cases, and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) represents the most common histologic subtype of NSCLC [2 –5].
