World Health Organization. 06/01/2017 This 334-page document reports on the review and update of the 19th World Health Organization (WHO) Model List of Essential Medicines (EML) and the 5th WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for Children (EMLc). Section 6.2 discusses antibiotics and new classifications: ACCESS, WATCH, and RESERVE, for good antibiotic stewardship and prevention of antimicrobial resistance. The Expert Committee on Selection and Use of Essential Medicines took actions that included recommending the addition of 30 new medicines to the EML (17 to the core list and 13 to the complementary list).
