American Physiological Society International Opportunity Program Award Award: $7,500 Deadline: June 30, 2014 Contact: Executive Office The APS International Opportunity Program (IOP), established in 2013, provides funds to support educational, training, research, or public outreach events outside of the USA, with the following goals: (1) To promote interactions and exchange between APS members, sister societies, and other international physiologists; (2) To foster education, scientific research, and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences; (3) To support underrepresented regions; and (4) To raise the global stature of the APS. Events eligible for IOP support include training workshops, conferences, research symposia (including satellite symposia), and other events promoting physiology education, training, research, or public outreach. The International Physiology Committee of the APS reviews applications by applying the following criteria: (1) Quality of the scientific content; (2) Diversity of invited participants (with respect to gender, country of work, career stage); (3) Clearly articulated plan to involve graduate students and postdoctoral trainees; and (4) Budget justification. Preference is given to events held in, or otherwise serving, underrepresented countries or regions.
