Please join Secretary Sebelius for the Secretary’s Global Health and Human Services Lecture Series. Dr. Harvey Fineberg, President of the Institute of Medicine and a leading public health practitioner and analyst, will speak about the paradox that higher healthcare expenditures in the U.S. do not necessarily lead to more positive health outcomes. Dr. Fineberg will examine possible explanations and lessons for the future.
Harvey V. Fineberg is President of the Institute of Medicine. He served as Provost of Harvard University from 1997 to 2001, following thirteen years as Dean of the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Fineberg helped found and served as president of the Society for Medical Decision Making and has been a consultant to the World Health Organization. Dr. Fineberg has co-authored and co-edited several books on such diverse topics as AIDS prevention, vaccine safety, and understanding risk in society.
