Pneumonia caused byCorynebacterium pseudodiphtheriticum.

We report the case of a 76 years old female patient, with a history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes and chronic renal failure, who presented pneumonia during their stay at the intensive care unit. The induced sputum revealed a representative sample with monomicrobial gram positive pleomorphic coryneform rods (Gram stain) and cultures demonstrated the presence of C. pseudodiphtheriticum as the only bacteria recovered. The pacient received an empirical third generation cephalosporin medication with a succesfull recovery. PMID: 27836329 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

P. granatum which is also known as pomegranate could support the growth of L. casei even without nutrient supplementation. This can be seen from the maximum specific growth rate of the strain in shake flasks (0.08 h−1) and stirred tank bioreactor (0.11 h−1). Quercetin-3-glucoside was detected as the most abu...

At a molecular level, the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) are not fully established. The present study aimed to assess the impact of PBM on the alteration of genes linked to Janus kinase-Signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) signalling in wounded and diabetic...

Conclusion: PsA is characterized by an increase in cardiovascular morbidity in relation with insulin resistance. Current treatments seem to improve this risk with a decrease in cardiovascular mortality in comparison with patients with plaque psoriasis but this requires confirmation in larger prospective studies.

ConclusionBlood glucose level, higher body mass index, inappropriate antibiotics use, neuropathy and advanced grade of diabetic foot ulcer were independent predictors of amputation. Thus, special emphasis for patients having neuropathy and advanced grade of diabetic foot ulcer as well as weight reduction, managing hyperglycaemia, and appropriate antibiotics prescription practice would decrease untoward effects of diabetic foot ulcer.
