A case of false positive cardiac troponin I in CANOMAD syndrome
Cardiac troponin (cTn) is currently established as the gold-standard biomarker in diagnosing myocardial infarction [1]. However, during the last decade, the introduction of novel cardiac troponin assays made interpretation of troponin results more challenging. Indeed, the 99th percentile cut-off point can be overpassed in others conditions than acute coronary syndrome. Thus, true increases of cTn are associated with chronic renal failure, advanced heart failure, acute pulmonary embolism, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, myocarditis or arrhythmia [2].
