Contributors : Longtao Wu ; Kirk Cahill ; Bakhtiar YaminiSeries Type : Expression profiling by arrayOrganism : Homo sapiensWe identify the atypical inhibitor- κB protein, Bcl3, as a novel biomarker in gliomas whose expression level predicts response to therapy. Bcl3 is found at 19q13 and its expression level in glioma is regulated by copy number alteration. Mechanistically, Bcl3 mediates mesenchymal differentiation and its presence promotes resistance to cytotoxic DNA damage.

ConclusionCurrent study proposes an automatic method for segmentation between non-enhancing tumor and vasogenic edema in HGG patients, based on an SVM classifier which used an alternative ground truth to that of radiologist’s manual delineation of tumor. The proposed methodology can prove to be a useful tool for pre and post-operative evaluation of glioma patients.

Complications from trans-sphenoidal surgery vary depending on tumor size, and mortality rate ranges 0.6%-31% for patients with microprolactinomas and macroprolactinoms, respectively. More than 50% of pati...
