Persistent Impairment in Immune Reconstitution and Worse Survival Outcomes Among Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant Patients with Early COVID-19 Infection
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is a curative procedure for a broad range of hematologic diseases. Patients are highly susceptible to infectious complications especially in the first 6-12 months post-transplant causing an increased risk of treatment-related mortality, at least in part due to the profound decrease in numbers and impaired function of T- and B-cells in the early post-transplant period1.
