Masticatory-Induced Ocular Task-Specific Dystonia

Background: Task-specific dystonia (TSD) refers to a subset of focal dystonia that targets isolated body parts and is elicited by specific tasks, often emerging in regions engaged in highly skilled and repetitive activities. This condition is common among writers, musicians, dancers and athletes. Previous studies have demonstrated many rare cases. Here, we report the first task-specific dystonia presenting with ocular dystonia —only chewing precipitated focal dystonia (especially when the gaze was directed downward with both eyes), with a significant therapeutic effect on oral medication.
