470. [15O]-Water PET Regional Cerebral Blood Flow During Rest in Men, Naturally-Cycling Women, and Women Using Oral Contraceptives
Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) is an index of neural function that exhibits robust sex differences, as well as abnormalities in several neuropsychiatric illnesses wherein sex differences occur, including schizophrenia. It is hypothesized that the observed sex differences in rCBF could reflect important brain-hormone interactions, but whether exogenous hormone manipulation via oral contraceptives (OCs) might modulate these differences remains unexplored.
