A Preliminary Investigation of Pain Experience and Mental Health in Children with Cerebral Palsy

Chronic pain is common in children with cerebral palsy (CP); yet little is known about relationships between chronic pain and internalizing disorders in children. The purpose of this preliminary investigation was to examine relationships between chronic pain, pain interference, and mental health in children with CP. The Brief Pain Inventory – Pain Interference Short Form was used to assess pain interference with activities of daily living, the Dalhousie Pain Interview was used to assess chronic pain, and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey was used to assess mental health factors.
