External Validation of a Risk Score Assessment for Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device Mortality
Purpose: No guideline to inform optimal candidacy of ventricular assist device implantation in pediatrics exists. Recent research focusing on risk factors for poor outcome on device resulted in the development of a risk score (ACTION score) assessment to predict mortality. To determine the appropriateness of implementing this score, we sought external validation. We also seek to compare performance of the ACTION score to the performance of the Intermacs profile.
