Defining Optimal Criteria for LVAD Weaning in HF Patients with an Improvement in Cardiac Structure and Function: A VAD Wean Registry Analysis
Purpose: Mechanical circulatory support can result in a continuum of reverse cardiac remodeling. Stringent criteria for LVAD discontinuation, are not universally applied, and patients frequently have device support discontinued after a complication. The purpose of this analysis is to describe long-term outcomes after LVAD weaning based on degree of reverse remodeling.
