Ukrainian National Transplant Program During Active Military Invasion

Purpose: Since the beginning of full-scale armed aggression, organ transplantations in Ukraine have been halted due to the need to reconfigure the healthcare system, ongoing missile attacks, and drone strikes with explosives. The influx of refugees from Ukraine and internally displaced persons added to the complexity of the situation. The closure of airspace resulted in additional challenges in adhering to transplantation rules. However, the national waiting list continued to grow. This led to an understanding of the urgent need for a swift response in the field of transplantation.
