Post-Transplant Use of Renin-Angiotensin Inhibitors and Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction (CLAD)

Purpose: CLAD remains the main limitation to long-term survival after lung transplant and there is no effective therapy or prevention. CLAD is characterized by small airway fibrosis and different degrees of parenchymal fibrosis depending on phenotype. The renin-angiotensin system has been incriminated in fibrosis in different organs. We hypothesized that inhibiting the RA system would decrease subsequent CLAD development.
