Less Sleep Tied to Increased Risk of Diabetes Despite Healthy Diet
People who slept 5 or fewer hours each night had a higher risk of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes than those who slept 7 to 8 hours, even if they followed a healthy diet, a cohort study published in JAMA Network Open found. Sleeping 5 hours or 3 to 4 hours per day was linked with a 16% and 41% increased risk of type 2 diabetes, respectively.
