The extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) involves complex coagulatory, immunological, and inflammatory processes that may contribute to the development of thromboembolic events, necessitating systemic anticoagulation1-4. However, the use of anticoagulation carries a hazard of severe, life-threatening hemorrhage5-7. Therefore, anticoagulation monitoring is crucial to avoid adverse events3,8-11.
