Opioid and Adjunctive Medication Prescriptions in Curative-Intent Radiation Therapy for Head and Neck Cancer (HNC)

Managing pain during curative-intent radiation therapy for head and neck cancer (HNC) is crucial, yet little is known about opioid prescription trends and long-term use in these patients. For this patient population we sought to quantify opioid and adjunctive pain medications, as well as characterize HNC radiotherapy patients. Identifying individuals with higher opioid needs can inform targeted interventions to reduce overall opioid usage.
