Determination of Pain-Related Knowledge and Behaviors of Adult Intensive Care Nurses

The Taxonomy Committee of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines pain as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage (International Association of Science IAS 2022). The most clinically useful definition is MC Caffery “Pain is what the patient says. If the individual says it exists, it is necessary to believe it” and it was pointed out that it should not be ignored that unconscious patients may also have pain. As the most accepted definition of pain in nursing, it was stated that “as long as the person expresses that he/she has pain, he/she has pain” (Eti Aslan& Y ıldız, 2017).
