Moving towards PET determined coronary flow capacity in outcome prediction after coronary revascularization?

More recently conducted randomized trials such as the Surgical Treatment of Ischemic Heart Failure (STICH) or Clinical Outcomes Utilizing Revascularization and Aggressive Drug Evaluation (COURAGE) trial could not demonstrate an improvement of survival with coronary revascularization versus medical therapy alone in stable CAD or ischemic heart disease (IHD) [1,2]. Nevertheless, the STICH trial demonstrated some beneficial impact of coronary revascularization on survival after an extended follow-up of an approximate 10  year in these patients [3].
