The effects of taping in the management of primary dysmenorrhoea: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Dysmenorrhoea, commonly known as painful menstruation, affects most women of reproductive age. The intensity of this condition can sometimes equate to the severe pain experienced during renal colic, labour, or an ectopic pregnancy [1]. Research indicates that between 60 and 93  % of women experience menstrual pain, with 42 % suffering from severe levels [2]. Dysmenorrhoea itself causes a painful and often crampy or spasmodic sensation in the lower abdomen or suprapubic region [3–5]. Associated symptoms may include back pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, fa tigue, nervousness and dizziness, a collection of which is referred to as premenstrual syndrome [6].
