Basophils are important for development of allergic skin inflammation
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common skin inflammation in infants and young children. It is characterized by intense itching, skin barrier defects, epidermal hyperplasia, dermal infiltration by T cells and eosinophils, and type 2 –dominated local immune response, evidenced by increased cutaneous expression of type 2 cytokines and eosinophilia.
