PRO: Vasopressors can be safely administered via a peripheral intravenous catheter

The use of vasopressors is ubiquitous in the perioperative arena as well as in the Intensive care unit (ICU). Vasopressors are often used for the management of intraoperative hypotension (IOH), which is associated with postoperative organ injury and is a potentially modifiable cause of surgical morbidity and mortality.1 Although the exact role of vasopressors in intraoperative arterial pressure management is not well characterized, they are usually the first line therapy in many scenarios.2 In critically ill patients, vasopressors are commonly used for the management of circulatory shock and are recommended as a first line treatment for septic shock.
