Fertility Preservation in the Pediatric and Adolescent Patient
Fertility preservation in prepubertal and adolescent patients is a rapidly evolving field at the intersection of pediatric oncology, reproductive medicine and child psychology. Herein, we will discuss the importance and challenges of fertility preservation in these young populations, who may face potential loss of fertility due to cancer treatments or other health conditions. It addresses the various techniques currently available for fertility preservation, such as cryopreservation of testicular tissue, while analyzing the ethical considerations, psychological impact and the role of informed consent in these procedures.
