Reply to: “Outcome of in situ split liver transplantation in Italy over the last 25 years: An alternative analysis and personal view”

We thank Jean de Ville de Goyet1 for his comment on our study recently published in the Journal of Hepatology.2 Our study on outcomes of in situ split liver transplantation (SLT) in Italy confirms, on a larger population, the hypothesis proposed by de Ville de Goyet himself some time ago based on 100 SLTs from nine European centres,3 i.e. that improved donor-to-recipient (D/R) matching plays a key role in outcome improvement, a conclusion of which we are still firmly convinced.
