Unveiling the Zinc Paradox: Balancing Act in Reproductive Health and Prostate Pathology

AbstractMinerals play a crucial role in the biochemical and physiological processes of all living organisms, including humans. Metals like Zinc, Copper, Calcium, and Selenium are essential for optimal functioning of these processes. Zinc is crucial for maintaining the endocrine system, particularly prostate tissue, and has been linked to prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Zinc levels and ratios have been found to be decreased in prostate carcinoma cases compared to benign prostatic hyperplasia cases. This letter to the editor supports a recent finding in the Indian Journal of Clinical Biochemistry, which confirms the importance of zinc in maintaining the endocrine system and the healthy functioning of the male reproductive system.
