Caroli ’s disease and pregnancy - Do we expect the unexpected?

Caroli disease is a rare congenital disorder with multiple segmental cystic dilatation of intrahepatic biliary ducts with no periportal fibrosis and is assciated with recurrent episodes of cholangitis. Carolis syndrome is associated with periportal fibrosis and consequently with portal hypertension, oesophageal varices and splenomegaly. Incidence of carolis disease is 1 in 1,000,000. Associations with renal diseases like Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, medullary cysts and nephronopthisis.
