36. Provider Perspectives on Gender-Affirming Hormonal Treatment in Sickle Cell Disease

Many gender minority adolescents and young adults (AYA) pursue gender-affirming medical care, including hormonal treatment. For gender minority AYA with sickle cell disease (SCD), an inherited hematologic disease associated with increased thrombosis risk, use of hormonal treatment presents theoretical hormone-related thrombogenic effects. We explored subspecialty provider perspectives related to gender-affirming hormones among gender minority AYA with SCD.
