Nerve compression of the sacral plexuses by an intra-rectal object: A case report

We report the case of a 53-year-old patient who presented to the emergency department after the insertion of a 32cmx9cmx8cm intra-rectal foreign body for sexual purposes, which could not be extracted. The patient complained of severe pain rated 10 on the numeric pain scale and had bilateral lower limb motor deficits. An emergency CT scan was performed (Fig. 1) and the foreign body was extracted through laparotomy and colotomy after the failure of transanal extraction. There were no postoperative complications, and the recovery was uneventful.
