Amending the Pain Scale Used for Postoperative Pain Studies —Reply

In Reply We appreciate the thoughtful comments by Rubin and Lo and agree that more research evaluating the use of opioids in dermatology is warranted. Rubin and Lo correctly highlight that there are wide-ranging preferences between patients. While most patients preferred to use over-the-counter (OTC) medications alone when the risk of addiction was higher than 0% in our study, there was a subset of patients who preferred to use opioids in addition to OTC medications for pain management when there was less potential for addiction.
