Treating patients equally without the consideration of sociodemographic factors (e.g., ethnicity, gender) is a quality-of-care indicator.1 Equal care is also a legal right in many countries. For example, the Swedish Health and Medical Services Act stipulates that good care should be given to the entire population on equal terms.2
